Non-financial reporting is at the heart of the sustainable finance agenda, as the review of the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) and the renewed sustainable finance strategy are to be presented by the European Commission in the upcoming months. The strategy will be instrumental for the success of the European Green Deal. Two years after the publication of the first sustainable finance action plan, this new strategy will address how to go further to ensure the sustainable transition of the whole financial system but also how to harmonise and make a complementary use of existing sustainable finance tools and frameworks to address climate change and biodiversity loss at the global level.

Speakers at the policy roundtable include

  • Alessandro d’Eri, Senior Policy Officer at ESMA;
  • Giulia Genuardi, Head of Sustainability Planning and Performance Management at Enel;
  • Piotr Biernacki, Vice President of the Polish Association of Listed Companies and President of the Foundation for Reporting Standards; and
  • Mardi McBrien, CDSB Managing Director.

The discussion will touch on current developments and ways forward to ensure a comprehensive sustainable finance and reporting ecosystem to make the financial system more transparent, resilient and sustainable following the set up of both the Platform on Sustainable Finance and the EFRAG project task force on preparatory work for elaboration of possible European Non-Financial Reporting Standards.
