CDSB Board Members

CDSB’s Board members represent organizations that lead work to develop climate change solutions and are active in encouraging/developing climate change-related disclosure. The Board is chaired by Rick Samans, managing director of the World Economic Forum. The Board sets CDSB’s priorities and strategic direction.

President, Ceres
Director, Investor Network on Climate Risk

Mindy S. Lubber is President of Ceres, a nonprofit organization that leads a national coalition of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies to address sustainability challenges such as global climate change and water scarcity.

Mindy also directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), a group of over 100 institutional investors managing $10 trillion in assets focused on the business risks and opportunities of climate change.

ThierryThierry Berthoud

Managing Director, Energy & Climate

Thierry Berthoud is currently Managing Director Energy & Climate at the WBCSD, in Geneva. Engineer, holding a PhD in materials sciences, he spent the first part of his career with the French nuclear public industry and the second part with global companies, 17 years in the aluminium industry (Pechiney, Alcan) and 3 years with Alstom Power. He held positions in various capacities (R&D, Government relations, Strategy, business development) always with a large international exposure and in connection with energy issues.

 

Richard-sRichard Samans

Senior Advisor, World Economic Forum

Richard M. "Rick" Samans is Executive Director of the Global Green Growth Institute, which is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.  He is also Senior Advisor of the World Economic Forum, overseeing the Forum’s policy and public-private partnership initiatives as well as its relations with international organizations, governments, NGOs, unions and other non-business constituencies.  In addition to helping to shape the global-issues content of Forum summits, he played an important role in developing the organization’s portfolio of multi stakeholder projects, which now engage over 300 Forum member companies in action- or policy-oriented work with experts from official, civil society, academic and other institutions.

Chief Innovation Officer, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Nigel is Chief Innovation Officer at the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global NGO which has brought together 551 of the world’s investors, representing assets under management of over $71 trillion, to engage with over 6000 of the largest public corporations on the business implications of climate change. Nigel has been responsible for developing and launching new programmes in the global supply chain of over 40 multinationals such as Wal-Mart, Unilever and IBM, in the public procurement sector and with global cities and most recently Water Disclosure.

Prior to joining CDP, Nigel was a member of the MBO team and Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for an automotive component manufacturing company with a turnover of $800million and facilities all over the world.

Pankaj-bPankaj Bhatia 

Director of GHG Protocol Initiative, World Resources Institute

Pankaj Bhatia is the director of the GHG Protocol Initiative workstream within WRI’s Climate, Energy, and Pollution Program (CEP). He is a leading expert on GHG Protocol Standards and tools, particularly in the area of corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting. 

Mr. Bhatia’s work responsibilities include: overseeing the development of GHG Protocol product life cycle and supply chain inventory accounting standards; establishing GHG Protocol partnerships and programs in collaboration with businesses and governments in key developing countries; and providing advisory services in the design of emissions registries in the U.S. and internationally. From 1998 to 2000, he was vice president of Tata Energy & Resources Institute, a not-for-profit research organization based in Arlington, Virginia and affiliated to The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, India.

David RosenheimDavid Rosenheim

Executive Director, The Climate Registry 

David is a proven senior executive with experience as COO, CEO and Director on several corporate Boards. As Executive Director of The Climate Registry, David is responsible for providing strategic direction; liaising with state and provincial Board members; and overseeing The Registry’s program, services and staff. He also serves as co-director of the Northern California chapter of Environmental Entrepreneurs.

 In his previous position, David oversaw U.S. business development for a leading carbon management organization, and prior to that was an entrepreneur in the high tech sector, founding and/or leading innovative internet start-ups. David has an MBA from Oxford University and is based in San Francisco.

Henry-dHenry Derwent

International Emissions Trading Association - President and CEO

Previously, as international climate change Director for the UK Government, he oversaw the UK’s role in the international negotiations, in the G8 (especially as Prime Minister's special representative during the UK G8 Presidency in 2005) and in other forums. Henry has been closely associated with the development of greenhouse gastrading in the UK and Europe from its earliest days. He previously had responsibilities for all aspects of climate change and sustainable energy in the UK as well as air quality and industrial pollution control. Before that, he was an international corporate finance executive at a major investment bank.

The International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) is a non-profit business organization of major companies and the leading voice of this community on emissions trading, whose goal is to ensure that the objectives of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change and, ultimately, climate protection, are met. 

Mark-kMark Kember

CEO, Climate Group

Mark has worked on climate change for fifteen years and is an expert on international climate policy. Mark has been instrumental in developing The Climate Group’s global network and operations in India and China, and directed ground-breaking projects with the international finance, energy, technology and aviation sectors. Mark advised former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair in the joint policy initiative Breaking the Climate Deadlock and is also a carbon markets expert, co-founding Verified Carbon Standard.

Prior to joining The Climate Group, Mark was Senior Policy Officer for WWF’s International Climate Change Programme, focusing on carbon market and finance issues. During this time he led the creation of the CDM Gold Standard, and participated in the European Climate Change Programme working group responsible for the design of the EU ETS. He has also served as Director of Planning at Fundacion Natura and climate change advisor to the Ecuadorian government.
